Let go.

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that’s all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”  ― Stephen King

Letting go in itself is never easy. But when weighing it in terms of Allah’s pleasure or the heart’s desire, one must, by nature, be able to choose what’s right. And when it is the former, it is never a loss. Only a win-win situation. Always a win-win situation.

But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not. [2:216 The Holy Quran]

Not everyone makes the correct choice, actually. It is Allah’s infinite Mercy and then your patience that you actually chose Allah’s Pleasure over your soul’s desire. God bless you.
